About
the Founder…
Kelsie Kenefick, M.P.S., C.B.T., L.M.H.C.
It is with great pleasure that I bring to you all that
I have learned about pain from both a professional and a personal
level…
My
story...

I
know just how devastating pain can be to a person’s life.
In 1989 I was in a car accident, which left me in a great deal of
pain for several years. I lost my job teaching at a high school
in New York State because I “took too many days off”
due to the pain. This was financially devastating. Then my relationship
broke up because the man I was with said I was “no longer
any fun to be with” and I just “didn’t want to
do anything anymore”. He said that he could understand if
I had lost an arm or a leg…. but I “didn’t look
hurt”. I ended up moving out West to the dry climate where
my body felt much better. I left behind everything that was familiar.
I left behind my friends and family. I was physically exhausted
from the pain, jobless, and my life was in upheaval. Sound familiar!?
The insurance company decided to cut me off from benefits after
one year while I was still in intense daily pain. This left me on
my own to figure it all out. With that comes the blessing in disguise!
In
1994 I went back to school to become a certified biofeedback therapist. I had a master’s degree in Humanistic Psychology
and Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
Since the mid- 70’s I had studied yoga, meditation, and mind-body
healing out of my own personal interest; and taught workshops on
these subjects. I made several trips to India over the years to
further study the mind-body-spirit connection. Biofeedback
brought a scientific basis for proving the mind-body relationship
in healing and reducing pain. This was very exciting!
The power of the mind to heal is beyond belief! I have continuously
seen miraculous recoveries over and over again
during my years working as a biofeedback therapist. In the 90’s
I even got to try it on myself a second time. After a ski injury,
the orthopedic surgeon told me that I would need surgery. He said
that I should deal with it after I got off the crutches for the
fractures which gave me about eight weeks. I immediately made myself
tapes to work with on a daily basis and tapped into the subconscious
mind, using imagery and other techniques, to heal myself. When I
went back for a checkup he sent me to the physical therapist three
times because he declared that the readings had to be wrong! He
said that these readings were showing that my knee was stronger
than the average person’s knee that had never been injured!
He didn’t ask me how I did it…it just left him a bit
puzzled!
In using the power of my mind to heal I successfully eliminated
the need for surgery. This is what I teach my patients how to do;
use the mind to heal. This is something that can be taught. They are learnable skills.
I have spent over ten years working with people who havemigraines
and other pain. It is with enormous gratitude to the patients I
have worked with around Colorado, and to the doctors who believed
in my work, that I bring you my books, CD’s, products and
teachings.
